Strengthening Climate-Smart Agriculture in Wardha

Under the project, ‘Development of Model Climate Smart Agriculture Village at Wardha District of Maharashtra State’ partnered with NABARD, a PIMC meeting was successfully held at CSAV, Muradgaon, Wardha on 26th June 2025. The meeting was organised with the esteemed presence of PIMC members, including Mr. Sushant Patil, DDM-NABARD Wardha, the SFI team, other PIMC Members, non-PIMC members, and beneficiaries. 

Key Highlights 

  • Special mention to Mrs. Vanita Uike, our Climate-Smart AE, for leading farmer trainings and assisting in collection of 158 soil samples for testing at KVK Selsura. 
  • Focus on forming a women-led Farmer Producer Company (FPC) to sustain CSA efforts, with activities spanning custom hiring, biofertilizer supply, residue management via biochar, mini dal mill-based processing, and CSA knowledge-sharing. 
  • Field visits showcased BBF-Soybean and Raised Bed Cotton demo plots, while Mr. Sushant Patil, DDM–NABARD Wardha, inaugurated a tree plantation during the visit. 

Outcome & Impact 

  • PIMC endorsed the exit strategy to hand over the project to an FPO upon completion, ensuring continuity of interventions. 
  • Convergence with key government schemes such as Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana, MGNREGA, and KVK support for biofertilizers will reinforce long-term sustainability. 
  • PIMC approved a SHG-led model with 50% contribution. Jai Durga SHG has already shown readiness to manage bio-product operations with a 20% profit margin, building ownership and financial viability. 

This meeting reaffirmed the project’s strong women-led sustainability model, paving the way for a resilient Climate-Smart Agriculture ecosystem in Wardha.
