Empowering Women Through Agri-Entrepreneurship

AE-Jeevika Program, Bihar 

The Bihar AE-Jeevika program, a collaboration with Gates Foundation, aimed to create 5,000 agri-entrepreneurs, with a special focus on women-led enterprises. Over time, it has grown into one of the largest community-driven agricultural extension models in India. 

High-level recognition, such as interactions with Bihar’s Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Nitish Kumar, and Hon’ble Rural Development Department Minister, Shri Sharavan Kumar, have appreciated the women beneficiaries and their impactful work benefitting millions of farmers in Bihar. The model also received a boost through Drone Didi initiatives and renewable energy integration. 

Snapshot: 

  • 5573 AEs trained( 4562 women AEs) 
  • 4830 AEs have initiated business, benefitting 1.2 million farmers 
  • AE income rose to ₹5,000+ per month from previous ₹2,000–₹3,500 
  • 13 women AEs (Drone Didi’s) got the opportunity to have drones under NAMO Drone Schemes 
  • 1,432 women AEs have become Lakhpatis
