The Living Income Project, implemented in partnership with AFPRO, continues to drive diversified farming among Small Tea Growers (STGs) across Assam. In July 2025, the project emphasized low-cost agri-business adoption, livestock and poultry health, and market linkages. These interventions are designed to boost farm incomes, promote resilience, and unlock new opportunities for rural communities.
Key Highlights – July 2025
- Farmer Engagement: 18 meetings were conducted, engaging 200 STGs.
- New Livelihood Avenues:
- 28 STGs under Surya Factory covered for the second vaccination of 1,650 backyard chicks.
- 21 STGs have started poultry farming under 4 BLF factories.
- 12 STGs initiated Betel Leaf plantation; 10 started Black Pepper cultivation, and 50 STGs started Milky Mushroom farming.
- Market Linkages:
- 212 STGs were supported by Agri-Entrepreneurs (AEs) to access markets.
- A total of 2,380 kg of King Chilly has been linked to markets.
- Health Outreach: A health camp organized in collaboration with NHM reached 55 farmers for preventive care.
- Cattle Vaccination: A cattle vaccination camp was conducted with support from the veterinary department in Dibrugarh.
