Promoting Diversified Livelihoods through Sustainable Farming Practices

The Living Income Project, implemented in partnership with AFPRO, continues to drive diversified farming among Small Tea Growers (STGs) across Assam. In July 2025, the project emphasized low-cost agri-business adoption, livestock and poultry health, and market linkages. These interventions are designed to boost farm incomes, promote resilience, and unlock new opportunities for rural communities. 

Key Highlights – July 2025 

  • Farmer Engagement: 18 meetings were conducted, engaging 200 STGs. 
  • New Livelihood Avenues: 
    • 28 STGs under Surya Factory covered for the second vaccination of 1,650 backyard chicks. 
    • 21 STGs have started poultry farming under 4 BLF factories. 
    • 12 STGs initiated Betel Leaf plantation; 10 started Black Pepper cultivation, and 50 STGs started Milky Mushroom farming. 
  • Market Linkages:  
    • 212 STGs were supported by Agri-Entrepreneurs (AEs) to access markets. 
    • A total of 2,380 kg of King Chilly has been linked to markets. 
  • Health Outreach: A health camp organized in collaboration with NHM reached 55 farmers for preventive care. 
  • Cattle Vaccination: A cattle vaccination camp was conducted with support from the veterinary department in Dibrugarh.
