On May 16, 2025, Syngenta Foundation India (SFI) entered into a strategic partnership with the Bankers Institute of Rural Development (BIRD), Lucknow—a premier institution promoted by NABARD.
This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marks a collaborative commitment to advancing training, research, and consultancy in agriculture and rural development banking in India and abroad. Through this partnership, SFI and BIRD aim to:
- Enhance the capacities of smallholder farmers
- Strengthen Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Producer Groups
- Foster the growth of Agri-Entrepreneurs (AEs)
- Promote scalable models for income enhancement and sustainable agriculture
By combining SFI’s grassroots engagement with BIRD’s institutional training expertise, the initiative promises to bring impactful, inclusive change across India’s rural and Agri-finance landscape.
