Satara Demonstration Event 

Under the ‘Promotion of CSA Practices through AE Network’ initiative, a Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) demonstration was organized in collaboration with EDF on July 24, 2025, in Mathachiwadi village, Satara district. The event focused on building resilience among sugarcane farmers by promoting adaptive practices, cost-effective technologies, and climate-responsive solutions. 

Key Highlights 

  • CSA Demonstration: Focus on sugarcane seedling transplanting, seed replacement, and drip irrigation; engaged 120+ farmers. 
  • Fertilizer Efficiency: Promoted nitrogen use optimization through the N-Balance approach. 
  • Technology Adoption: Showcased INM, IPM, and sugarcane trash management as fodder with necessary precautions. 
  • Water Use Efficiency: Demonstrated soil moisture indicators for precision irrigation. 
  • Farmer Engagement: Discussions on climate variability, AI in farming, and organic practices. 
  • Institutional Collaboration: Supported by KVK Borgaon, Department of Agriculture–Phaltan, Netafim Pvt. Ltd., and Shree Ram Sugar Factory. 
  • Expert Guidance: Experts shared insights to help farmers.  

Rahuri Demonstration Event 

A Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) demonstration was conducted on July 25, 2025, in Warwandi village, Rahuri block. The event was chaired by Mr. Rajendra Jog,Executive Director, SFI and graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Ulhas Surve, HOD, Agronomy Department, MPKV Rahuri; Dr. Sachin Sadafal, HoD, Department of Extension, MPKV Rahuri; Mr. Samir Mirza, CSA Advisor, EDF; SFI Team, including Dr. Gajanan Rajurkar, Lead-CSA Initiatives, Ms. Yashaswini S N , Project Assistant and Mr. Sursingh Pavar, Mulamai, FPO; Mr. Digambar Adsure, Champion Farmer.  
 

Key Highlights  

  • Discussion on climate crisis and need for an immediate action 
  • SFI AE model and its impact on farmers yield and income 
  • Discussed Super Bio–mix – It’s a microbial consortium designed to improve soil health, enhance plant growth, and potentially increase crop yields. 
  • Agri Expert have also given emphasis on Seed Treatment, Seed Replacement, INM, IPM, and N balance. 
  • Scientists also emphasized on use of Seedling, drip irrigation, ratoon manager, and soil moisture indicators for irrigation scheduling. 
  • Use of balanced nutrients, so the soil will not get depleted of critical nutrients in the long run. 
  • Using the N-Balance framework for yield-optimized fertilizer application. 

The event was organised by the Ahilyanagar team led by, Mr. Pavan Thorat, for designing and executing such a high-standard field event. The initiative continues to strengthen climate resilience and improve productivity through AE-led outreach and field-level demonstrations.
